Bj and Brad

...For Bj and Brad, their shared experience of life together so far, has been a journey of self-discovery, and insight. They have taken the time to understand and to know, what’s important to them and how they want to live their life. The share a beautiful connection where they support each other, believe in one another and bring out the best in one another. They have their individual interests and talents, but the core of what they want from life, and how they want to live, is the same.

They want to live sustainably, to think about what’s really important and pare back life to not be about wealth and ‘things’ but to be about enjoying the small things. They want to embrace their free spirits, to go on adventures together, where they don’t just see places, they become involved and connect with communities, contributing to the lives of those they meet in a positive way, in any way they can...

Shea and Chris

...Shea and Chris share a true connection and an unwavering bond, at its foundation are all the things they have in common; the similarities, shared interests and mutual respect for one another. They both have an easy-going nature, they’re down to earth, driven, and above all, they’re just really kind-hearted people. Their shared interests include sport, theatre, food, wine and their cute little kitten Sasha.

While they share a lot in common, they are also two wonderful individuals, with differences that truly complement each other and bring out the best in each of them. Where Chris is more sensitive, Shea is more courageous, and where Chris see’s the glass as being half full Shea is more of a realist. They accept each other’s differences and flaws and are truly strengthened by one another as a result.

Given all that, it’s not surprising that Shea and Chris feel completely at ease with each other. They both value the fact that they don’t have to pretend or shy away from their feelings – they can just be their authentic, genuine selves, knowing that they are loved and accepted for their whole selves...

Ryan and Jillian

...Together, they cherish the simple things in life, the peaceful moments in a chaotic world; and a lot of those moments come when spending time together with their two dogs Scooter and Barney. Their two cute little snouts are with them every day, they also double as Ryan’s work colleagues 😀

The biggest parts of Ryan & Jill’s life together is that of their families. So it’s not surprising that Ryan met Jill’s father David on their third date. Yes, on their third date the three of them went on a romantic stroll through the Botanic gardens together. Soon after that Jill met Ryan’s family at a Sanders Family BBQ, she entered the back gate to be warmly greeted by all 15 family members standing in a semi circle ready to meet, and get to know, the girl who had captured their Ryan’s heart.

When Ryan and Jill went to Canada together for the first time Ryan knew that he wanted to propose there with Jill’s family nearby. So he chose her favourite stone, a ruby, and on the beach at Hornby Island he proposed. For Jill, all her dreams came true that day and to this day she still thinks that she may wake up from the dream. But it’s no dream, it real, it’s your life, your love and it’s amazing, and beautiful, it’s meant to be...

Peter and Shannon

...Peter and Shannon met at one of the most romantic places known to man – a remote iron ore mine site. When they first met Shannon was a graduate engineer and Pete was the site physiotherapist. They both agree it was not a case of ‘love at first sight,’ instead Pete remembers that Shannon seemed like ‘a really nice person, very active, with a hard to pin down accent.’ Shannon says she remembers thinking that Peter was older than what he was, and was probably married with kids (‘because he was so attractive’ - Pete)...

Liam and Caitlin

...As she was looking out the window taking in the view, Caitlin turned around to find Liam, not on one knee, but on both knees! He pulled the ring from his back pocket and said “Caitlin, will you marry me!” Surprised and expecting the ring to be in a box, Caitlin’s first response was “where’s the box??” followed by a “Yes!” of course. At which point, for Liam, all the planning and organisation, the nervous waiting, the anxious anticipation of getting the proposal right had left him a little hot and flustered... so Caitlin’s “yes!” was met with Liam exclaiming “it’s really hot in here, I need to take off my pants!!” 😀...

Edie and Frank

...Because their engagement happened so long ago there is in fact some discrepancy as to when and where the proposal took place. Edie recalls being in a restaurant for her birthday, where Frank got down on one knee, in front of her family and proposed. Frank thought this was the evening they shared the news of their engagement with their families and that he had in fact proposed a week or so before. They were looking after a friends house and he had come up behind Edie, got on one knee and said ‘will you marry me’. Edie thought that night was Frank joking around!

Either way, they’ve been engaged for 20 years and for 20 very busy years they just prioritised other things over getting married 😀In their words ‘they could either renovate a room or get married’, so they renovated the room and then another and another...

But tonight, there are no rooms to be renovated here, it’s your time. Your time to be married, to celebrate your love for each other and to finally say ‘I do’...

Amanda and Simon

Amanda and Simon met at work in 2007, Amanda a student on placement and Simon, the friendly and helpful, not to mention (I quote) “pretty alright looking” co-worker. They got along really well right from the start, there was a connection and comfortable ease about the time they spent together - as friends.

In early 2009, Simon decided to move to London and a couple of interesting things happened... firstly, Simon in general conversation with his parents, told them that “Amanda was the type of girl you marry”. They weren’t even going out at this stage! Then with Simon in London, and Amanda in Melbourne, they emailed and skyped regularly. Many of you here then started to question if there was something more going on – (to your guests) you were all onto it before they were! Amanda had convinced herself, and attempted to convince others, that Simon would never date anyone from work so nothing would ever happen between them. BUT, there is no workplace policy could keep two people, with a connection like yours, apart 😀

Gillian and Shaun

...They love a road trip, whether it’s getting away to the beach for the weekend, or heading off on their massive adventure through Canada and the USA. That trip showed them just what a strong bond they share. There was long, long hours in the car with no radio and no I-pod so they talked about everything, anything and nothing. Both happy to chat and both comfortable to be silent. They were away for months, just the two of them together, going with the flow and appreciating every moment and every new experience they shared together.

For Shaun and Gillian everything just clicks. They’re a great team who work well together as a pair, always helping each other out, always supporting each other. They set goals together and because they share such a strong partnership, they achieve them together. They are always there for each other no matter what...

Kerrie and Mark

...Kerrie and Mark met on a night that almost didn’t happen. Kerrie had every reason not to go to the Monash Uni Party that night, and it was her mum Leah who was adamant that she should go (well done Leah 😀). So off Kerrie went. She knew of Mark but they had never spoken – until that night, where they chatted the whole night and instantly felt a connection - they just got along so well.

In the weeks that followed Mark texted Kerrie and they went on their ‘first date’ –which when you’re at uni of course involves all your friends coming along too and what more romantic place to take the woman that you’ll one day end up marrying but on a booze cruise! And things just went from there, they instantly became close, spending every day together – driving to uni together, lunches at uni, weekends away, they even combined their friendship groups. They discovered all the things they love about each other and all the things they love doing together...

Erica and Daniel

...Erica loves the way Daniel is so adaptable, the way he can talk to anyone and loves to make strong connections with people. She appreciates the way he just makes things happen! He is passionate and honest and is always looking to please her. For Erica, Daniel loves at 110%, his love is unwavering, it’s real, he gives all of himself and Erica truly adores that quality.

Likewise, Daniel feels the same about Erica. He loves the way she can talk about anything and the positive, calm perspective she brings to any situation. In Daniel’s words “ She challenges me and has educated me, the way she cares for me is incredible. Erica lights up the room. I want to marry her because I am so proud just to be standing next to her.”...
